On 5-19-08, District Chief 20, Engines 17, 18, 20 and 40, Ladder 20 and Tower 18 were dispatched to a house fire on Nrrwood Street. Engine 17 was first to arrive and found fire involving the front of a large one-story wooden home.The front rooms of the house, the attic and the front porch were all heavily invilved and threathening exposures on the B and D sides. The first lines off of Engine 17 protected the exposures while a water source was established. With enough water from a hydrant, a deck gun was put into service for a quick knockdown of the fire in the front of the structure and the hand lines were put to work in an interior attack of the structure. Quick action by aggressive crews upon first arrival kept the fire from causing any damage to the exposures.
